It is preferred that students do not arrive at school before 8:25 a.m. when they are allowed to go to breakfast. We understand that work schedules sometimes dictate an earlier arrival, however, students will not be allowed in the building before 8:00 a.m. At this time, Teaching Assistants will supervise a quiet homework time in the Cafeteria until 8:25 a.m.

It would also be appreciated if parents would remind student that they are to leave school premises at dismissal. It is the responsibility of the school crossing guards to see that all children have safely crossed the streets and are provided a safe access to their homes.

Student Absences
It is asked that you call school (475-6775) as soon as possible in the morning if your child is going to be absent or tardy. The school office will make an attempt to call the parents of children who have not been reported. Written excuses are required when your child is absent or tardy.

Please adhere to the following when your child is absent:
1. Call the office to let us know that your child is absent AND ...
2. Send a written excuse to school when your child returns.

An absence is considered legal if the reason is one of the following:

• illness
• death in the family
• unsafe travel conditions
• religious observance
• medical appointments
• quarantine
• required court appearances
• participation in school-sponsored activities or academic enrichment.

Building Visitation
Board of Education policy mandates that visitors to the building sign in when entering the school. There should be no exceptions to this rule. Conferences should be pre-arranged for the convenience of all concerned.

Breakfast and Lunch
The City School District provides lunches for our students. Breakfast will be offered starting at 8:25 a.m. in the small gym.

Costs will be as follows:
Paid Breakfast with Milk - $1.25
Reduced Breakfast with Milk - $.25
Paid one-half pint Milk - $.40
Paid Lunch with Milk - $2.00
Reduced Lunch with Milk - $.25

Eligibility forms are sent home in the beginning of the school year. Those families interested in reduced price or free lunch must send completed forms back as soon as possible.

Reminders

• New York State law forbids giving medication of ANY kind, including aspirin, Tylenol and cough syrup, without written permission from both a doctor and parent. Please contact the school nurse at 475-6780 if you have further questions.

• There is no parking allowed in the bus zones in front of the building on Park Ave. This is extremely dangerous as children are exiting the building, getting on buses, looking for parents, and crossing the street. We realize everyone is dealing with tight schedules, but please put the safety of all of our children first.

• Smoking is not allowed on school grounds.
