Welcome to New
Scotland Elementary School
My name is Violetta De Rosa, and I am president of New
Scotland Elementary School PTA for the 2011-12 school year.
Joining me will be, Kate Keefe as Vice President,
Ramona Martin as Treasurer and Barbara Rosselli will be our secretary. We are
all looking forward to working with the parents, faculty and staff to
strengthening our community and make this a wonderful year.
The NSES PTA comprises a dedicated group of parents, teachers and staff working
to make every NSES child's elementary school experience a positive one, both
academically and socially. To that end, we provide numerous programs including;
school banking, Scholastic Book Fairs, Afterschool Clubs, School Pictures,
People as Reading Partners, Harvest Festival and many more. We also fund arts
and education programs in school, such as choreographers and potters, as well as
classroom enrichment projects. All of this is possible through volunteers like
you. Any amount of time you can give to the PTA is greatly welcomed and
appreciated. I greatly encourage you to become a member of the PTA and
attend our meetings to be a voice for your child.
Why Join the PTA
What is
PTA? Why join PTA? The number one reason to join the
Parent Teacher Association is
to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school and community. But
there are many more PTA advantages:
-
Get Connected.
There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
-
Tap into a Network.
PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building
rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas,
concerns, and experiences.
-
Watch Yourself Grow.
By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for
a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
-
Speak Up.
PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s
school.
-
Witness Improvement.
By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution,
helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in
fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and
social events.
-
Be a Role Model.
By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to
your child the importance you place on education.
Help build and protect the success of New Scotland Elementary School by taking
three important steps:
Join: Complete and
return the membership form to become a member of the New Scotland Elementary
School PTA today.
NSES PTA yearly membership is $5 and I encourage
you to join and be a part of community that is committed to our children.
Participate:
Join us at the PTA meeting on the second Wednesday of mostly every month.
The first will be held on Wednesday,
September 14th, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. Attend the programs and events
the PTA sponsors throughout the year for all families. Please check the calendar
for PTA event. Notices are also sent home though the children.
Support: Please
consider supporting our fundraiser, big fundraiser starts in September and is
followed by several more throughout the school year. All funds raised go
directly to programming or equipment to help our students learn and grow.
Encourage local businesses to contribute as well. Your time is also very
valuable to our PTA as we need to staff events, help in the classroom and
afterschool activities. Bring your idea…No volunteer is ever turned away.
This
is going to be an exciting year. We are glad that you are here with us and
look forward to a great year. If you have any questions, concerns or
suggestions, contact me at

Thank you for anticipated support and involvement with the New Scotland
Elementary School PTA!
Sincerely,Violetta De Rosa,
PTA President
